How To Handle Crohn’s Disease Mental Issues Successfully

Any Crohn’s Disease sufferer has to know by now, that there is much more to this disease than just dealing with the physical discomfort it causes. For example, having Crohn’s restricts your life so much psychologically, in so many ways. It hinders your mobility, stifles your energy level, and even the desire to want to be around friends and loved ones. But there is hope available.

For the bettor part of my life…throughout my teens and early twenties, I suffered from a disease that, at that time I was not even diagnosed with. Oh, there were the theories and hunches that the doctors had about the mysterious stomach cramps, diarrhea and unexplainable weight losses I was experiencing, but nothing was ever confirmed. Doctors hypothesized that the symptoms might be as result of a history of allergies and asthma that I had experienced in my youth. So, as a result I was put on a very restrictive diet. I was not allowed to have any foods containing milk or wheat of any kind, only rice products and meat. The diet unfortunately had little effect on the disease that I was suffering from.

I was constantly in and out of doctor’s offices, clinics, and hospitals undergoing constant batteries of x-rays, including upper and lower GIs, barium enemas, and blood tests. All of these tests were to no avail…no cause was ever determined for my condition. As a last resort I was told by my doctor to see a psychologist. Read the rest of this entry »

A Ferret’s Life – Life Span, Common Ferret Diseases and Health Issues

Taking care of pets is much like being a parent. Some people think it’s weird to compare these two things. These are obviously the people who has never experienced the joy of taking care of such loving creatures.

As part of being a pet parent, you want to know the important things: what they want to eat, where they can play, what vaccines they need and why they get sick. And for ferrets, there are many diseases that they can get too.

The average life span of a ferret is at most t eight years. But of course, this depends on a number of things.

Now, I’m sure you’re interested to know what the most common diseases ferrets can get. That’s wise. As they say, prevention is always better than to cure.

Let’s start with Insulinoma.

This one has actually reached “epidemic proportions” with ferrets. Which means that it is a very common illness. So what is it?
